Vernacular

The addendum to a conversation with friends.  The proverbial one-liner shamelessly plugged at the end of every sentence.  See: “I’m just saying” or “That’s what she said”.  When did these become such commonplace punctuations in modern language?  Are these dismissives or deflections?  Do they serve to put the speaker at ease from their uncomfortableness and soothe their self consciousness?  The content of conversations should not be a haphazardly strung together sequence of hashtags.
